Barton Hills Choir third and fifth graders performed their Eaglestock 2 show on the steps of Barton Hills Elementary for a large and appreciative crowd on the sunny Saturday afternoon of April 16th. 4th grade Barton Hills Choir members with Director Gavin Tabone will be special guests at the May 19th Read, Write, Rock! show at Antone’s benefiting CapCityKids. Along with the BHC, Malford Milligan and his All-Star Band, David Grissom, and the winner of the Round Rock High School Battle of the Bands are scheduled to perform.

100% of event proceeds will directly benefit CapCityKids, a charitable organization that assists at-risk homeless students in the Austin Independent School District.

Mark your calendar now to attend this special event. Thursday, May 19.  Doors open at 6 pm.  Music starts at  6:30 p.m. Antone’s Night Club, 213 W. 5th St., Austin, TX.  512-320-8424 (view map).

The official 2010/2011 Barton Hills Choir CD entitled Golden Oldies will be available beginning Tuesday, April 12. The CD was produced by Choir Director Gavin Tabone, mixed and mastered by Jake “Mr. Bubbles” Perlman, with artwork by Jason “Boom Boom” Brint.

Musicians for the CD include Gavin Tabone on keyboards, Aaron “Hair Doctor” Dembe on guitar and bass, and Jake “Mr. Bubbles” Perlman on drums.

On April 6 the Barton Hills Choir set off on Austin’s famous downtown Hike and Bike Trail to sing at three pianos located along the way. The pianos are among 14 placed around downtown Austin by artist Johnny Walker as part of an interactive art exhibit called Play Me, I’m Yours.

Pictures above were taken by Rob Dalley and show the choir performing at Lou Neff Point, the Pfluger Bridge, and finally, at Butler Park.
