The Barton Hills Choir is a youth choir from Austin, Texas led by Gavin Tabone that specializes in music by the Grateful Dead and other classic rock artists. The Choir is accompanied by professional musicians, including guitarist Don “El Cento” Cento, bassist Aaron “Hair Doctor” Dembe, and drummer Jake “Mr. Bubbles” Perlman.
Their repertoire spans golden oldies from the Beatles, Elvis, David Bowie, Grateful Dead and Beach Boys to songs from more current bands like Wilco, Muse, The Flaming Lips, Foo Fighters, and Belle and Sebastian. They perform annually at the Austin City Limits Music Festival and have traveled for shows in New York, Chicago, Denver, Portland (Maine), and Dallas
They have shared the stage with Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian, singing sensation Nakia, guitar legend Charlie Sexton, and the Flaming Lips. They also accompanied Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters when he performed ‘The Wall’ at the Frank Erwin Center.
