Happy New Year! I hope you are enjoying the holidays. Here’s a BHC web site quick update:

  • All of the video content on the web site has been reposted with new embedding code which will hopefully help resolve issues some users had when trying to view the video using Internet Explorer for Windows. Many thanks to Cherylann, Lynn, and Kathy for their patient help in troubleshooting this symptom.
  • Matt Reilly of KUT advises that the radio show originally aired on December 23 featuring the Barton Hills Choir will be posted to the KUT web site soon for those of us who missed the earlier broadcast. Look for a link here as soon as it becomes available.

    Zilker Tree Lighting performance video

    Barton Hills Choir performs at the Zilker Park Tree Lighting, Dec. 6, 2009

    Looking festive in their new red shirts, the Barton Hills Choir performed at the annual lighting of the Zilker Park Tree on December 6. Lynn Williamson shot this video of the performance which was attended by hundreds, including a strong contingent of BHC parents who claimed prime seating directly in front of the choir tent to enjoy the memorable holiday performance. The choir included 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders from Barton Hills Elementary as well as special guests from Palm School, and filled two sets of risers underneath the tent, with the musicians located in the center between them.

    Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree (2:03)
    Jingle Bell Rock (2:17)

    Musicians for this event included some special guests:

    Drums: Tom Treanor
    Guitar: Aaron “Hair Doctor” Dembe
    Keyboards: Gavin Tabone

    Assistant choreographers Karen Hunt and Amy Geltemeyer led the students in their moves.

    The City of Austin Channel 6 is airing a 3 minute video highlight of the 2009 Zilker Park Tree Lighting that includes the Barton Hills Choir. The video is also available on their web site.
