Here’s a New Year’s treat for you: Barton Hills Elementary third graders sing all of the songs from their January 21 PTA meeting performance. Recorded in the music classroom while practicing on January 20, the six recordings below include a grand total of nineteen songs in mp3 format for you to enjoy on your computer, in your car, on your hi-fi, or on your iPod.

Third grade choir members practice for their Spring Performance. Photo by Lynn Williamson

Second and third grade members of the Barton Hills Choir have been practicing for their Spring Performance. Be sure to attend the PTA Meeting at the school on Thursday, January 21 to enjoy their songs. The meeting begins at 6:30 PM.

Barton Hills Choir poses in KUT Studio 1A with Eklektikos host John Aielli (click to enlarge)

KUT has promised to post the Choir’s December performance on Eklektikos to their web site soon. Meanwhile, Kathy Carr provided some nice photos from the recording session in KUT’s studio 1A, including the one above which pictures the choir with beloved KUT radio host John Aielli, host of Eklektikos. Sixth grade members of the Barton Hills Choir were recorded by a KLRU video crew in the Music Room on December 4 performing several songs for inclusion in a holiday program called “In Context: Voices of Light.” The hour long program was directed by Dutch Rall and features performances by a number of Austin singing groups including the Austin Chinese Choir, Mount Zion Baptist Church, Trio Los Vigilantes, Abiding Love Lutheran Church, Capital City Men’s Chorus, Lakeway Baptist Church, and the Barton Hills Choir. The program aired on December 20 and 23, and will be shown again on January 11 and 12 on KLRU.

The Barton Hills Choir performed “Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow! and “Winter Wonderland.” Musicians included Choir Director Gavin Tabone and Aaron “Hair Doctor” Dembe. Click on the picture above to view an excerpt of the program which includes these two songs recorded from KLRU HD.
