Here’s the Barton Hills Choir performing the Queen classic Crazy Little Thing Called Love at the choir summer camp 2012 performance. The choir is made up of 2nd through 6th graders from Barton Hills Elementary School in Austin, TX and is accompanied by Gavin Tabone on keys, Jake Perlman on drums, and Aaron Dembe on bass.

Queen guitarist Brian May described Crazy Little Thing Called Love as Freddie Mercury’s “tribute to Elvis.”
Freddie Mercury told Melody Maker that he composed the song on guitar in just “five to ten minutes.”

Fun facts:

“God Only Knows” was one of the first pop songs to use the word “God” in its title
U2’s Bono said in October 2006 during Brian Wilson’s induction into the UK Music Hall of Fame that “the string arrangement on ‘God Only Knows’ is fact and proof of angels.”

Kathy Carr took these pictures at the Barton Hills Choir Camp show held June 7 at Barton Hills Elementary. The show was originally scheduled for the Arneson River Theatre in San Antonio, but inclement weather forced a last minute change of venue. The kids sang songs from the golden age of rock and roll including the Beach Boys classic “God Only Knows” which is available for your viewing pleasure here.
