Barton Hills Choir performs at Ruta Maya on Halloween, 2009

BHC Parent Lynn Williamson shot this video of the Choir from the first row of the audience, directly behind Gavin. Lots of great closeups of the kids’ faces. The choir at this performance included 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders, with several in Halloween costumes.

Chan Geltemayer provided these excellent pictures from the Choir’s performance at the Zilker Tree Lighting December 6. Despite a light mist in the air there was a large, appreciative audience that saw the choir perform a set of Christmas classics. The Barton Hills Choir will be performing at the Zilker Park Tree Lighting on Sunday, December 6th. This is a wonderful free event the city has celebrated since 1967 and the kids will have wonderful holiday songs to share. See the city’s web site for details on transportation, parking, and more. The event begins at 6 PM – come early to get your hot chocolate and claim a good seat!

[hidepost]Parent Notes: Kids need to be there by 5pm. The show starts at 6pm. Parking is in the field next to the event. Kids need to wear the new red choir shirt and jeans. They can wear a jacket or sweater if it is chilly. They are also encouraged to wear either a Santa hat, reindeer antlers, or elf ears.[/hidepost]

Select members of the Barton Hills Choir will join Barton Hills neighbor and beloved singer/songwriter Sara Hickman for two shows at the One World Theatre on December 12. This venue is well known as a magical environment for musical performances and you’ll want to make plans now to attend. As the One World Theatre web site describes:

Sing along as multi-award winning singer/songwriter, tireless humanitarian and marvelous mom Sara Hickman takes the stage for a holiday musical performance that offers fun and appeal for children and adults alike. Sara’s gifted musical abilities and joyful, sonorous vocals make this a “must see” Christmas season concert with songs for the whole family to enjoy.

[hidepost]Parent Notes: The One World Theatre gig is for all 6th grade choir members, ACL 5th grade boys, and 4th grade sopranos in Mrs. Oltjen’s class. Parents do not get into this show free.

5 volunteer parents will transport choir members to the Theatre. The kids will meet at Barton Hills at 9:30am on the 12th, load into the 5 cars, and go to One World. We should be getting back by 2:30pm. The 5 parents will be back stage with the kids the whole time. One World will be providing snacks for the kids but feel free to send a lunch with them.[/hidepost]
