Fox7 featured a story during their evening news about the Choir’s performance at the downtown pianos yesterday. Barton Hills Students Sing with Street Pianos: MyFoxAUSTIN.com
The Barton Hills Choir will be hiking and singing on Wednesday, April 6, with stops at four pianos located along the downtown Austin hike and bike trail.
Fourteen pianos were recently placed around downtown Austin by artist Johnny Walker as part of an interactive art exhibit called Play Me, I’m Yours. The exhibit is part of an international project started by artist Luke Jerram in London in 2008. A concurrent exhibition is underway in Adelaide, Australia.
The choir will begin singing at the piano located at Lou Neff point in Zilker Park at 3:45. Next are the two located on the Pfluger pedestrian bridge across Lady Bird Lake near Lamar Boulevard at about 4:10. The choir will finish at the piano in Butler Park (atop Doug Sahm Hill) around 4:30. Maps and more information about the piano locations are available at the Austin project web site.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear the beautiful voices of our students along the hike and bike trail as they bring some extra sunshine to our springtime!
