Enjoy this video of The Barton Hills Choir performing the 1962 Sam Cooke classic Twisting the Night Away at the choir summer camp 2012 performance. The choir is made up of 2nd through 6th graders from Barton Hills Elementary School in Austin, TX and is accompanied by Gavin Tabone on keys, Jake Perlman on drums, and Aaron Dembe on bass.

Fun facts:

  • Inspiration for the song came when Cooke saw video of the Peppermint Lounge in New York on the Today Show
  • Sam Cooke was the first modern black artist to form their own record label and publishing company
